Blogs are an easy way to begin preparing children for the new literacies that will be expected of them (Zawilinski, 2009). What are some ways your child can use a blog? Set up a blog for yourself or your child (or both), and start blogging. Consider your audience. Will you invite family and friends to visit the blog? (If you live far from family or have a spouse that travels a lot for work, this is a great way to share your life with them and also stay connected.) What will be written about on the blog? Will you use a blog to document your child's writing development? (Great way to create a writing portfolio.) Post a link to your blog on our discussion board, and post your reflections on blogging.
